Baby’s Sex: It’s a girl!
How would you describe your pregnant style?
Since I spend my days in the studio at Physique 57, I basically live in workout gear. I’m very lucky since I can just roll my leggings down under my bump as the weeks pass. I always have fun overdressing my workout attire, so during pregnancy I just buy dresses and sweaters in bigger sizes and then accessorize with more substantial earrings, bracelets, and boots to balance things out.
Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?
Most women seem to find that they carry very differently with a boy and a girl, but I haven’t physically noticed much of a difference in comparison to when I was pregnant with my son two years ago. I am fortunate to have a great group of friends and colleagues who pass around their maternity clothes. I have a handful of well cut Lululemon tops that have literally been sported by six women since I wore them last round, and now they have returned to my closet!
So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?
Both this pregnancy and last I have been surprised by how strong I can continue to feel even when my bump is growing every day. I have been addicted to Physique 57 classes ever since I was introduced to the technique and started teaching there in 2008. I always take at least 3-4 classes per week on top of teaching and training, but I find that I crave that “me” time even more when pregnant. Last pregnancy my water broke at the beginning of a class! I was a few weeks early and it was so subtle that I thought that it couldn’t be, so I stayed through the thigh and seat work to get my fix before calling my doctor.
What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?
With the exception of a few pairs of maternity jeans for the weekends, I always scout out non-maternity pieces that are bump-friendly. Free People and BCBG have a lot of flowy tops and dresses that work perfectly during pregnancy and that I can continue to wear after.
What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?
I’m very excited that my baby is due closer to spring this time as I love taking strolls with friends through Brooklyn Bridge Park. My son also made his Physique 57 debut at 2 weeks and accompanied me to several training classes weekly throughout my maternity leave. He loved the upbeat music and the attention from all of the pretty girls, and I was able to restore balance to my body and get my endorphin rush. Definitely to be repeated!
