How would you describe your pregnant style?
My pregnancy style is relaxed, comfortable chic. I’ve been wearing lots of stretchy clothing and experimenting with layering for the colder weather.
Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?
Definitely! I couldn’t wear jeans from the first month and I so love jeans. I had to learn to wear comfortable clothing but still resist the urge to wear sweatpants and a tee to work. Stretchy black fitted pants have become my best friend. I also do lots of layering. I wear a base layer of something stretchy and comfortable and layer it with a cute jacket to make it interesting. I’ve found it challenging to dress a few sizes bigger in such a short space of time. It also wasn’t about just going up a few sizes and going into a store and buying larger clothing. My bump has always been pronounced so I’ve had to accommodate the bump but still find clothes to fit the rest of my body. I resisted the urge to buy pregnancy clothing for some time only because I knew they would only last a short length of time. Eventually, I caved and bought one or two items for the bump just for comfort but I made sure I would be able to wear them after.
So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?
I didn’t expect to feel the effects of it from the very beginning. My first trimester was the most challenging. I thought that I would only really feel it in the 2nd and 3rd trimester. From the very beginning, I was super tired and nothing fit. I had to be much more strategic about my schedule and my daily capabilities in order to still get work done.
What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?
I’m super biased but I’ve been wearing Tabii Just dresses for the entire pregnancy and they’ve been so versatile and comfortable. The silhouettes are very forgiving and the prints are so strong that I can still pull off a stylish outfit while being comfortable. I usually layer leggings and a tank top underneath for the colder weather.
What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?
I’m most excited about sharing the many museums with the baby. I love the Brooklyn Museum and I’m planning to get a family membership when he comes. It’s also not too far from my apartment so I’m hoping to take him there often. I also spend lots of time in the summer in Prospect Park just enjoying the sun and I’m looking forward to taking him there with some food and a blanket. There are so many amazing things to share about New York City. I’m planning to raise him immersed in all the experiences.
