Casey Burry-Joseph’s Pregnancy Style

Bump envy!

Name: Casey Burry-Joseph
Neighborhood: Brooklyn
Occupation: Art Consultant
Baby’s Gender: Girl

How would you describe your pregnant style?
In my first two trimesters, I got to use much of my existing wardrobe, for example a boxy top/dress paired with leggings or a stretch knit jumpsuit paired with a drapey cape. By the end of the second, comfort became priority. I found maternity clothes overpriced and not sustainable, so I bought a few key pieces to mix and match — a large gray cashmere dress and gray cashmere leggings (both from Century21), a super comfy and cute jumper and fur-pocket cardigan (both from Asos), and another few oversized sweater dresses with tights from Zara and H&M. For shoes, I mainly chose from my selection of Nike Blazers, but they’ve started feeling too flat for my growing, aching feet, so a bootie with a short heel has become easier, believe it or not.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during pregnancy?
Yes, definitely. I was looking forward to wearing things that ‘showed off’ my belly, but I suspect winter is a tougher time than summer to be free with fashion. I ended up wearing lots of medium – large sized long dresses with tights.

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?
How happy I am! There were certainly ebbs and flows of hormone challenges throughout, but overall, I was pretty calm, chill, pleasant and happy.

What are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?
There’s so much. My husband and I are excited to share everything with her: stories, lessons, time out on the beach where we have a home, travel, art, our bed…
