5 Qs with Amanda

BUMP ENVY

Name: Amanda Goetz
Neighborhood: Upper West Side
Occupation: Marketing Director and High End Wedding Planner for David Tutera
Number Pregnancy: 1

How would you describe your pregnant style?
Our office is pretty casual unless we are meeting with clients or executing an event so I have had a few staple LBDs that have grown with me throughout the pregnancy and then most days I wear casual dresses with flats. Being pregnant in the summer, the name of the game if cool and comfortable.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your pregnant body?
I was actually surprised at how many everyday trends have been able to translate to maternity wear (thank you, empire waistlines!). I think the trickiest party is learning how to dress my new body in a way that shows off my baby bump and not accentuate other growing areas.

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?
I feel very blessed by this pregnancy and have been able to keep up with a lot of my former activities. We were able to go hiking in Patagonia during the first trimester and ran a 5k in the second. I think the key is listening to your body but also keeping a healthy fitness and diet regimen.
One thing that has surprised me is how pregnancy breaks down typical NYC barriers. I am from the Midwest and love to strike up conversations with strangers and my bump has been an incredible icebreaker to meet new people and bring a smile to some faces. One store employee even asked if she could rub my belly for good luck!

What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?
I love FitBump‘s clothing line for working out or just wearing around the house or to run errands! Their clothes accommodate my growing bump and are very flattering and comfortable. I also love the ASOS maternity line. The clothes are fun and fashionable without breaking the bank on items that I won’t be wearing much longer.

What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?
New York has so much to offer families from museums to cooking classes to playground after playground. After living here for four years without any children, my husband and I are just so excited to see the city through her eyes, and learn to slow down and take in the little blessings that this wonderful city has to offer.
