How would you describe your pregnant style?
Casual, comfortable and “well edited” (which is to say I have been relying on a tiny roster of pieces that all get plenty of airtime).
Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?
The biggest challenge was simply accepting my new shape, and the fact that all of my regular clothes are basically on a yearlong hiatus. Some women can make their regular clothes go the distance till month seven, but I’m one of those people who gains a LOT of weight in the first trimester. I’ve been relying on maternity clothes pretty much since the get-go.
So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?
How different two pregnancies can be. I was pregnant with my son three years ago, and the experiences have been far from identical. I was much sicker for the first half of one of them, while my legs turned to elephant trunks in the second half of the other. I’m not gonna say which was which, for fear of embarrassing any small/still unborn people.
What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?
I have a pair of super skinny gap jeans I’ve worn throughout both my pregnancies. My other favorite maternity piece is my navy J. Crew Minnie pants. And ninety-nine percent of the time I wear Tretorns or cork-soled sandals.
What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?
Ample Hills Creamery is about to open around the corner from me. I can’t wait to take the kids. And picnicking on the waterfront in Red Hook.
