Weekend Visit: Brooklyn Heights

The Brooklyn Baby & Family Expo on April 6th gives us one more reason to hit up Brooklyn Heights this Spring.

When we found out that this year’s Brooklyn Baby & Family Expo presented by A Child Grows in Brooklyn was going to be held at a new location in Brooklyn Heights, we started making internal lists of the exact stops we wanted to make while we were there. There’s just something about “America’s First Suburb” that makes us feel like we’re on a mini vacation when we’re there. And now with the warm weather approaching (hopefully??) we’ll find ourselves in the neighborhood more and more.

So after you’re done visiting dozens of baby and family exhibitors, learning about great new products and listening to talks by “The Baby Guy” Jamie Grayson, Honest Toddler’s Bunmi Laditan and more, make sure to check off one or two of these things off your list.

Craving stop: You may actually want to fuel up at this patisserie before you head to the Brooklyn Baby & Family Expo. You’re going to work up an appetite. The almond croissants at Almondine are trés magnifique. Take one for the road.

Chill out: Walk down the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and then take a seat. The sites will remind you exactly why you’re raising a baby here.

Shop: You’re in baby mode, so might as well roll with it and pop into Height Kids. You’re sure to find more than a little something for your little one in this one-stop kids shop filled with clothes, toys and gear.

Bump number 2: If you’re using the Brooklyn Baby & Family Expo as a refresher course for the second time around, take the morning to walk the show solo then spend the rest of the afternoon watching your firstborn wander in amazement at the New York Transit Museum.

Go for a ride: Baby shows, even when filled with awesomeness, can be overwhelming. Take a breather and hop on the East River Ferry to North Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan or even Governor’s Island. Traveling by water can be a very meditative thing.
